Well today is the first day I truly realized that it is summer.  Due to what you ask?  The absence of anything to do.  During the school year, I yearn for days like this.  All the school work and extracurriculars can wear down on you to the point where you just want to do nothing.  But now that that time is actually here for the first time in quite some time, I wish to go back to the madness.  But I suppose I can handle this boredom. 

For Mother's day and her birthday, I got my mother an iPod shuffle.  I spend upwards of three hours downloading music for her so she could jam out during her intense treadmill sessions.  What a good son I am.  But she deserves it, love yah mom.

Last night, after blogging I headed to my friend from high school's house to hang out.  Him, a few others from Ronald Wilson Reagan High School, and I had a movie and board game night (if you have been to Winston-Salem you would realize there is literally nothing else to do).  After an incredible comeback in Pictionary and a total choke in Trouble, we decided to pop in a movie.  Much to my happiness, we chose "Sex Drive."  For those of you who have not seen it, please do not judge quite so fast.  Sex Drive is quite possibly my favorite movie of all time.  As immature the name and plot is, they somehow managed to make an incredibly original and hilarious story that makes me laugh every time.  If you know any girls like that girl in that movie please introduce me because she is everything I look for in a girl (hmm maybe a future blog post...).  Please watch it if you get the chance.  And if you have watched it, here are my favorite characters: Andy & Randy.  You probably shouldn't watch that clip if you haven't seen the movie.

Final topic for the day is about how grades were posted today.  Some may be upset and others joyous, but in the end it does not really matter.  I got my baller internship this summer without a great GPA, which goes to show you that it is more important to be a well rounded person that a one-dimensional school robot.  Due to a couple joke classes, I was able to get my best GPA since college and finally make the Dean's list, but I am much more proud of what I have done outside the classroom, and will say that in any job interview I may have.  I always used Mark Twain's quote in my college applications, "I never let studying interfere with my education," and tried to embrace it.  You will get much more out of college and be much more prepared for the real world if you go out and get involved and meet new people instead of studying all the time.  My number one piece of advice to someone in college is to find something you are passionate about and go out and do it.  It does not matter if you fiends like to do it or not,  take it upon yourself to do what you want to do.  You will not regret it.  Trying new things are great too.  I randomly took a flier for the club rowing team crossing the drillfield my freshman year and decided to join the crew team.  I did it for two semesters and it provided me with some of my best memories and friends at college thus far.  There is so much to do and so many ways to learn at college.  I urge everyone to try my method of just going out and doing things.  I truly feel like I have learned more from my out of class activities than from my classes and formal schooling.
